Monarchs Shut Out Cannons 2-0 Behind Bradford Homer, Strong Pitching

The Hutchinson Monarchs combined timely hitting with dominant pitching to defeat the Kansas Cannons 2-0 Wednesday night at Hobart-Detter Field.

Blake Bradford provided the offensive spark for Hutchinson, launching a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the second inning for a 1-0 lead. The Monarchs added an insurance run in the eighth when Jarrett Herrmann drove home Drew Bugner with a hard-hit single to second base.

Starting pitcher Lachlan Rosser earned the victory for the Monarchs, working two innings while striking out the side. Brayden McClure anchored the bullpen effort with four shutout innings and five strikeouts, while Cason Gonzalez contributed solid middle relief to preserve the shutout.

Mitchell Johnson sealed the victory in the ninth inning, striking out the final batter to earn the save.

Kansas struggled to generate offense throughout the contest, with starting pitcher Blake Seefeldt taking the loss despite a quality outing on the mound.

The victory improved Hutchinson's early-season record to 4-0, while the Cannons fell to 5-1. Both teams will meet again Friday night in Augusta.
