In his 1932 DNC speech, FDR pledged a "New Deal", promising bold government action against the Great Depression. His speech outlined plans for economic reform, unemployment relief, and a renewed sense of hope for the nation. Democrats and Republicans disagree to this day on if the New Deal worked, but everyone agrees it transformed government.
