Born to German immigrants, Henry J. Kaiser was an American industrialist who transformed multiple industries. He built major New Deal projects including the Hoover Dam, revolutionized WWII shipbuilding, producing Liberty Ships in record time (42d, down from 250d) and founded Kaiser Permanente in 1942, pioneering prepaid healthcare for workers.
