MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson High School Lady Bullpups softball team capped an extraordinary regular season in dominant fashion, sweeping rival Buhler 12-1 and 7-2 on senior night to finish with an unblemished 26-0 record. The twin victories secured McPherson the No. 1 seed in the upcoming 4A West regional tournament and showcased the team's relentless offensive firepower and solid defensive play that has defined their perfect campaign.
The sweep provided a fitting final home regular-season appearance for McPherson's four seniors who have been instrumental in the program's success. Addison Chapman and Haely Hagemann, both committed to continue their softball careers at Butler Community College, delivered standout performances alongside fellow seniors Cora Pavlovich and Addie Herrera, with the latter set to play at Kansas Wesleyan University next season. The Lady Bullpups now turn their attention to the regional tournament, which they'll host next Tuesday, May 20, where they'll look to translate their perfect regular season into a deep postseason run as they pursue a state championship.
