The McPherson Bullpups girls' basketball team fell 48-38 in the semifinals to the Manhattan Indians in a hard-fought contest that remained close until the final quarter. Despite a strong performance from senior Brooke Doile, who led the Bullpups with 13 points and 9 rebounds, Manhattan pulled away late behind their aggressive defense and efficient free-throw shooting. McPherson kept the game tight early, entering halftime down just 20-18, but the Indians gradually built their lead in the third quarter behind key steals and transition baskets. Rylie Whitfield added 9 points for the Bullpups, while Piper Alvord contributed 7 points including a late three-pointer. The Indians' defensive pressure proved decisive in the fourth quarter, as they forced several crucial turnovers and converted them into points to extend their lead to double digits. The Pups play Hutchinson tomorrow for 3rd place at 310p.

In a thrilling upset at The Roundhouse, the 7th-seeded McPherson Bullpups knocked off 2nd-seeded Andover Central 50-47 in the first round of the 30th Annual Mid-America Classic. After a tight first quarter that ended 10-8 in favor of Andover Central, McPherson took control in the second quarter with a decisive 15-4 run, spearheaded by Rylie Whitfield's sharp shooting from beyond the arc and Brooke Doile's aggressive play in the paint. The Bullpups carried a 27-14 lead into halftime. Andover Central mounted a fierce comeback in the second half, led by Reece Wilborn's 14 points, cutting the deficit to just two points late in the fourth quarter. However, McPherson's resilience showed as they maintained their composure down the stretch, with Doile completing a stellar double-double performance of 18 points and double-digit rebounds. The game came down to the final seconds, as McPherson's defense stepped up to block Andover Central's potential game-tying three-pointer, securing their advancement to the tournament semifinals against Manhattan. The victory showcased McPherson's defensive prowess, rebounding strength, and clutch free-throw shooting when it mattered most.
