The McPherson Lady Bullpups suffered a 50-32 defeat against the Mulvane Wildcats, struggling particularly in the second half of Thursday night's contest. Despite holding a slim 21-20 lead at halftime, McPherson was unable to maintain their momentum. The Lady Pups were outscored 21-4 in the third quarter, as Mulvane opened the half with a commanding 9-1 run. Brooke Doile led McPherson's first-half effort with 8 points, while Piper Alvord, Maryn Sandbo, and Rylie Whitfield each contributed 3 points. The loss drops McPherson to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in league play. The Lady Pups will look to bounce back when they travel to face Winfield next Tuesday.
Boys
The boys opened 2025 with a 76-40 victory over the Mulvane Wildcats in a game that showcased their resilience and offensive firepower. Despite falling behind 12-4 early in the first quarter, the Bullpups mounted a comeback, taking control of the game with a 10-0 run. Senior Gabe Pyle led all scorers with 22 points, including several three-pointers before halftime that helped extend McPherson's lead to 39-24. Jett Pyle contributed 15 points, while Ian Razak added 12 points and Bishop Brown chipped in 10 points to round out the balanced scoring attack. The Bullpups' defense was particularly impressive in the second quarter, holding Mulvane scoreless for an extended period. McPherson continued to build their lead throughout the second half, ultimately securing the 36-point victory to start the new year on a high note.
