MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson High School Bullpups baseball team delivered a statement performance on senior night, sweeping their rival Buhler in convincing fashion to cap an outstanding home schedule. The Bullpups dominated the doubleheader, winning 7-1 in the opener before shutting out the Crusaders 10-0 in the nightcap, as McPherson improved to 22-3 on the season and will finish up the regular season tomorrow in a make-up game against Wichita Collegiate.
The victories were especially meaningful for McPherson's eight seniors, most of whom have been playing together since they were seven years old. The tight-knit group includes Carter Allen (pitcher/catcher), who will continue his career at Pratt Community College; Brenden Doile (utility), headed to Western Nebraska Community College; Brock Richardson (shortstop), committed to Butler Community College; Isaac Barnett (outfield), bound for Sterling College; Logan Beede (pitcher/first base), set to join Neosho Community College; Brody Seidl and Ian Razak (center field and pitcher/first base, respectively), both continuing at Cloud County Community College; and Jase Fitzmorris (outfield/pitcher), who will wrestle at Cloud County CC.
The senior class's remarkable achievement of having all eight players continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level speaks to their exceptional work ethic and talent development during their time as Bullpups. The Bullpups won't have long to celebrate, however, as they'll host the regional tournament at their home field next Tuesday, May 20, where they'll look to capitalize on their home-field advantage and secure a coveted spot in the state tournament.
