McPHERSON, KS - The McPherson High School track and field team delivered several standout performances at their home invitational on Thursday, competing against eight other schools from across the region. Senior Caleb Muehler dominated the distance events for the Bullpups, claiming first place in both the 1600 meters with an impressive time of 4:34 and the 3200 meters in 10:03. The boys' 4x800 relay team also secured a victory with a time of 8:22, demonstrating the Bullpups' strength in distance running as they finished fourth overall with 54 points in the men's division behind Hays High School (157), Pratt High School (124), and Andover Central High School (87).
On the women's side, the Lady Bullpups showcased their talent with Lexi Patterson leading the way in middle distance events, capturing first place in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:35 and securing second in the 800 meters at 2:33, just ahead of teammate Maryn Sandbo who finished third with a time of 2:34. Eva Ramey contributed with a second-place finish in the 3200 meters (12:14), while Andi Buschbom earned second in the long jump with a leap of 17'1" and Karsen Burris impressed in the javelin with a throw of 115'8". The McPherson girls finished fourth in team standings with 80 points, as Hays High School (131), Andover Central (130), and Salina South (97) took the top three spots. Following the 800-meter events, the meet paused to honor the senior athletes in a special recognition ceremony.
