A McPherson County resident died in a house fire on Sunday evening. The fire happened just after 6 p.m. in the 1000 block of 9th Avenue in rural McPherson County. Mcpherson County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the fire and began searching for an occupant who was reported to be inside. Due to the intensity of the fire, deputies had to back out of the house. Inman and McPherson crews were able to contain the fire. The homeowner was located dead inside. The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to investigate the cause of the fire. The investigation determined the fire was accidental and caused by faulty electrical equipment. The victim’s identity hasn’t been released.
