Cosmosphere Launches New Student Advisory Board for 2025–2026
June 2, 2025

The Cosmosphere, an internationally recognized science education center and space museum based in Hutchinson, Kansas, has announced the formation of a Student Advisory Board for the upcoming 2025–2026 academic year. The initiative aims to involve local youth directly in shaping the future of the institution’s educational offerings and public programs.
Open to students from every high school in Reno County, the Student Advisory Board will meet monthly throughout the school year. Participants will provide direct feedback to the Cosmosphere’s leadership, including input on educational programming, museum exhibits, films, and field trips.
“Since 1962, the Cosmosphere has worked to inspire the future through space exploration. As we continue this important mission, input from tomorrow’s leaders will become increasingly vital,” said Jim Remar, Cosmosphere President and CEO. “Valuable insight from the Student Advisory Board will help further solidify the Cosmosphere as a leader in science education.”
Applications for the advisory board will open in early August for Reno County high school students.
The Cosmosphere is a Smithsonian Affiliate and home to one of the largest space artifact collections in the world. Located at 1100 North Plum in Hutchinson, its U.S. space collection is second only to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, and it houses the largest collection of Russian space artifacts outside of Moscow. With immersive exhibits, live science demonstrations at Dr. Goddard’s Lab, and educational attractions like CosmoKids and the Carey Digital Dome Theater, the Cosmosphere continues to play a leading role in STEM education nationwide.
