1. 10th Measles Case Reported in Southwest Kansas, All Children Under 18 Affected
One week after confirming its first positive case of measles, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment is reporting online that there are now 10 cases in the southwest part of the state this year. Eight Kansas residents have tested positive for measles in the last three weeks, according to data updated Friday. The other two cases were reported in late January and early February. All of the cases involved patients under the age of 18, according to the data. Seven of the cases involve children 10 years old and younger, while two involved children between 11 and 13 years old. The remaining case was a teen between 14 and 17 years old. Nine of the cases involved children who were unvaccinated, and the other child was under-vaccinated, said Philip Harris, deputy communications director for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The cases involved residents of Grant, Morton and Stevens counties in southwest Kansas. There have been no hospitalizations, he said.

2. Kansas Passes Bill to Ban SNAP Funds for Candy, Sugary Drinks
Kansas passed a bill asking for the federal government to ban recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funds from using them on certain candy and sugary drinks. The bill directs the secretary of the Kansas Department of Children and Families to request a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which oversees the program at the federal level, to exclude candy and soft drinks from SNAP benefits.

3. Skeletal Remains Found in Burnt Vehicle After Ellis County Blizzard
Authorities say skeletal remains were found inside of a vehicle that was burnt in Ellis County on Friday. Ellis County Sheriff Scott Braun says deputies responded to the 1900 block of Mount Pleasant Road on Friday to the report of a vehicle in a ditch. When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle that had burnt up with skeletal remains inside. Lt. Garrett Brening says the car drove off into a ditch and got stuck during the recent blizzard. Brening added officials believe they know who the person is, but are not release any name at this time. The sheriff's office says no foul play is suspected, and the case is under investigation.

5. K-State Women’s Basketball Crushes Fairfield
Things couldn’t have gone much better for the Kansas State women’s basketball team in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky. Not only did the Wildcats beat Fairfield 85-41 to advance to the Round of 32 without exerting much energy, they got star center Ayoka Lee back from foot injuries ... and she played like an All-American.
